Elk Ridge is a city in Utah County, Utah. Named
for a herd of elk that wintered in the area, it is
part of the
Provo-Orem,
Utah metropolitan Statistical Area. The
population was 1,838 at the 2000 census. Although
Elk Ridge was a just a town in 2000, it has since
been classified as a fifth-class city by state law

States Censu Bureau, the city has a total area
of 2.8 square miles (7.2 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,838
people, 413 households, and 401 families
residing in the town. The population density was
662.2 people per square mile (255.3/km²). There
were 441 housing units at an average density of
158.9 per square mile (61.2/km²).
There were 413 households out of which 66.8% had
children under the age of 18 living with them,
92.7% were married couples living together, 2.4%
had a female householder with no husband
present, and 2.9% were non-families. 2.7% of all
households were made up of individuals and 0.5%
had someone living alone who was 65 years of age
or older. The average household size was 4.45
and the average family size was 4.52.
In the town the population was spread out
with 46.1% under the age of 18, 8.22% from 18 to
24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 15.3% from 45 to 64,
and 4.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The
median age was 21 years. For every 100 females
there were 107.9 males. For every 100 females
age 18 and over, there were 103.9 males.
